There's a generational clash here too, as Kylie wants to be proud of them as a couple, walking hand in hand in public, but old-fashioned Laura is afraid of coming out as a lesbian. But when Laura assures her lover that she's serious about their relationship and wants it to be an exclusive one, Kylie melts, and the tension between them evaporates.

Instead of having the dinner Laura's been preparing for them, they go to the living room couch and anxiously undress each other.
